ABOUT NOWHERE KITCHEN
A nomadic laboratory of 'cooking with leftovers' or making something with what is (already) there. The practice began as a series of private dinner performances in different houses in Madrid in 2012 performed by Pepe Dayaw (Nowhere Kitchen). Since then it has evolved into a living philosophy that uses improvisation as a method to design food, experiences and emergent narratives.

RECIPES FOR COOKING WITHOUT RECIPES
This is a cooking class focused on the Nowhere Kitchen improvisational methodology of creating dishes using what is there. Bringing his passions for anthropology, history, dance and philology into the chopping board, Pepe Dayaw presents a funky culinary experience that is less about following specific recipes and more about cultivating one’s innate abilities to create with ingredients immediately on hand.

For some, cooking has to do with following a set of instructions in order to create something. It means that to make a dish, one has to process the act through the reading of a recipe. What happens when a course of action (to cook) is not intermediated by text? In the absence of instructions, what other motors exist that could usher a direct link between the physical (hunger) and the spiritual (creativity)?

ABOUT PEPE DAYAW
'Pepe Dayaw' is a work-in-progress. In this work lies a blend of folklores, precarious technologies and funky improvisations whose mission is to research and choreograph living designs and sociality. Born in Manila, Philippines and grew up everywhere, Pepe is a leftover of past lives that get renewed each time he performs. He started cooking out of nostalgia for island tropical memories and has since been utilising this practice as a research tool for rehearsing democracies through cooking leftovers or Nowhere Kitchen.
