We will work with video cameras and movement.

In teaching how to work with a video camera in the field of dance I experienced and developed some principles that I want to share with you. These principles seem to be very simple but they teach a lot. How you work with them is up to your aesthetics and experience.
In the workshop you have to be ready to move, to discover, to try the unknown. (Big word - I know - but the unknown often reveals itself through failure.) I want to offer some basic exercises to sharpen our perception. That means physical work focusing on perception, including the knowledge that the camera can serve as an extension of the body.

If you have knowledge in photo or video, great, if you work with video the first time, great as well.

The workshop is open to every experience. Everybody will handle a video camera but: Not everybody needs a camera, we will work in groups and share the tools we have.
If you have a recording device bring it, you decide if you are ready to share it with others or not. There will be a limited possibility to edit, but most of the work will be done in the camera.

What makes it special to work with movement and video?
What is your understanding of a Video/dance or a dance video?

I would love to provide access to visual research on movement and choreography, on movement in space, on movement of the body and objects in space; the movement of a camera in space...

Always when I sit down and write about what I want to share in an upcoming workshop I end with: creating interest for perception and for the game with perspective,
guiding the capacity and interest of the participants towards new ground,
collaborating on visual ideas,
learning about the possibilities to bring a vision into a frame....

Looking forward to meet you!

ANDREA KEIZ

While finishing her studies as biologist in Göttingen Andrea Keiz started an education as a teacher for dance improvisation. Through that she got involved in Contact Improvisation as well as in other improvisational work, release based technique and bodywork. Since 2000 she has been working in the field of video documentation of contemporary dance. (From 2000 to 2010 mainly in cooperation with Mimecentrum Berlin, where she was involved as well in the development of the database as a research tool for performing arts.) Besides documentation, she has done live video work in performance, as well as artistic video work
Collaboration 2013/14 with Berlin based artist like Eva-Meyer Keller (pulling strings), Christina Ciupke (http://www.undo-redo-repeat.de/), Begum Ercyas ("This piece is still to come"), Martin Nachbar (Animal Dances) and Jochen Roller (http://www.thesourcecode.de/).

V I D E O G A   T Ö Ö T A M I N E

T A N T S U M A A S T I K U L

Me töötame gruppides ja jagame olemasolevaid töövahendeid. Kui sul on salvestusaparaat, siis võta see kaasa – sina otsustad, kas soovid seda teistega jagada või mitte. Võimalused töötlemiseks on piiratud, kuid namus töö tehakse ära kaamera sees.

Mis teeb töötamise liikumise ja videoga eriliseks? Milline on sinu arusaam video/tantsust või tantsuvideost?

Tahaksin pakkuda ligipääsu visuaalsele uurimisele liikumisest ja koreograafiast; liikumisele ruumis, keha ja objektide liikumisele ruumis; kaamera liikumisele ruumis...

Alati, kui ma maha istun ja kirjutan, mida ma tahan eelseisvas töötoas jagada, lõpetan sellega: tekitada huvi tajumiseks ja mänguks perspektiiviga; juhtida osalejate võimeid ja huvi uuele tasandile; teha koostööd visuaalsete ideedega; teada saada võimalustest, kuidas tuua nägemus raami sisse.

Kohtumiseni!
