Floor Works is a training system that aims for the continuity of chains, using unconventional ways of approaching ground level movement. The system focuses on a very specific and uncommon way of using momentum, impulse, space, motion and time in order to extend the dancers understanding of working with the base level. The class introduces the basic principles and foundation of breaking, conjoined with contemporary techniques that use expansion, suspension, release and resistance. The study aims for continuity in order to learn how we can transfer, gather and spread our weight anywhere in our body while moving on ground level as effortlessly as possible. The movement vocabulary is created and cultivated by Ima Iduozee, who's debut solo piece THIS IS THE TITLE gives a preliminary example of the kinesthetics and content of Floor Works. The class is open for professionals and experienced dancers, with strong training in contemporary movement.
IMA IDUOZEE...is a Helsinki born choreographer-performer with a strong background in breakdance. After several years of guest appearances and exhibition battles in Finland and across Europe, his interest started increasingly shifting towards contemporary movement, choreography and physical theater. Since 2009 he has worked with several choreographers and directors including Sebastien Ramirez, Sonya Lindfors, Neil Hardwick, Reija Wäre, Marita Liulia and Tero Saarinen. Iduozee´s debut work This is the Title was premiered in 2012 with acclaim from both critics and audiences. The work reflects on his unconventional approach to movement design and his ever emerging strong personal voice as a choreographer. After it´s premier, This is the Title has been invited to international festivals including Carolyn Carlson´s Atelier de Paris, Dansens Hus Stockholm, Teatro a Corte -festival in Torino and ICE HOT 2014 in Oslo. In 2014 Iduozee choreographed, co-wrote and directed Perfect Day, a physical monologue for dancer/actress Kaisa Torkkel, premiered at the Helsinki City Theater. His latest choreography Rosary was commissioned by the Pori Dance Company. Iduozee will premier his upcoming stage work Purple Nights in Stockholm´s City Theater October 31st.
