rosalind crisp’s work offers practical tools to pay attention to the act of dancing and concrete ways of generating, and of perceiving, movement from any part of the body, at any speed or level, with any force or direction, for any duration... at any time. this work can deflect the dancer from their habitual movement pathways, enlarge their range of movement choices, and place them more solidly in the present. it offers primary sources for movement that empower the dancer as creative agent.

australian choreographer and dancer ROSALIND CRISP trained in classical and contemporary dance at the victorian ballet school, and in post-modern approaches to the body (release techniques, contact improvisation and body-mind centering®) at the european dance development centre, the netherlands in 1991. In 1996 she established the omeo dance studio in sydney as a site for her research for over ten years. it became the main studio for contemporary dance research in sydney. she choreographed many pieces there, initiated a number of international exchanges and received various awards including the NSW women and arts fellowship (1996), the MO award for best female dance performer of the year (1998), and a fellowship from the Dance Fund of the australia council for the arts (2000-2001).

rosalind was invited to france in 2002 by michel caserta, director of the biennale nationale de danse du val-de-marne. in 2003 she was invited by carolyn carlson to become a choreographic associate of the atelier de paris-carolyn carlson. the atelier now manages her company. in 2005 rosalind launched the project d a n s e. This research has been the basis for her works : dance, a quartet (australia 2005), sur les traces du wombat, a site specific outdoor work for 6 dancers (france 2005), danse (1), a solo accompanied by the 'live' writing of french dance researcher isabelle ginot (france 2006), danse (4), a quartet (france 2008), no-one will tell us... a trio in collaboration with australian performer andrew morrish and swiss musician hansueli tischhasuer (france 2010), and ≠espèces a work for the 5 dancers of her french company (2011/12).

she has had works commissioned by: theatre vorpommern - a work for 7 dancers (greifswald, germany 2007), laban centre - works for 21 dancers (london 2007, 2009), university of arts HZT (berlin 2008), company two fish (berlin 2010), victorian college of the arts - a work for 11 dancers and 1 cellist (melbourne 2011). she has created performances and events for greenwich dance (london 2008, 2009), the place (london 2009), sophiensaele with andreas müller (berlin 2009), varia festival (gothenburg 2009), dancehouse (melbourne 2007, 2008, 2010), critical path with barre phillips (sydney 2011), june events of the atelier de paris-carolyn carlson (paris 2010, 2011).
